Third and Fourth Grade Teacher: Mr. Kyle Kohlmeier
St. Francis of Assisi is the chosen patron saint of the 3rd and 4th grade. We have a beautiful statue of him in our prayer corner and were very excited to hear that our new Pope chose the name Francis.
We remember that St. Francis loved birds. Each day we put birdseed on our windowsill to feed the many neighborhood birds. We get a close-up view of them eating and even hear them as they peck at their meal.
Cardinals are our favorite and we learned that the females are brown and not bright red. They tell us when they visit by “chipping” at us. We also like the mourning doves because they are not frightened away so quickly. It is very exciting when a squirrel hops up to check us out!
Of course when our mini science lesson is over we are called back to our seats for other classwork. The classroom is again organizing and working the Mission Store for the school. Not only do the students earn money for various mission projects but they also put into practice their counting skills when making change for their customers!
