ST. THERESA OF AVILA SCHOOL HOST MAY CROWNING
St. Theresa School hosted May Crowning last Friday, May 3rd, with 8:15 am Mass. The statue of Mary was crowned by our 8th grade and all students and all present participated by bringing flowers and objects of affection to the Blessed Virgin Mary who gave us Jesus, and through whom, Jesus, wanted to come into the world.
Honoring Mary may seem strange, but we are only doing what Jesus did and what Jesus wants us to do. Jesus was a good Jewish boy keeping the 4th Commandment, which states, "Honor thy father and mother." We are to imitate Jesus who honored his mother. Plus, on the cross before He died, "to the disciple whom He loved he said behold your mother."
So we love her because Jesus gave her to us, and we go to Jesus through her because Jesus chose to come to us through her!
"I saw a woman clothed with the son, with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of 12 stars." -Revelation 12
